An old time design used in places where you need a straight edge but do not want the tip to bite into your work. Also known as a “safe edge”. These quality hand forged knives are made by a father and daughter team in New England. Cape Forge has put tradition back into knife making. Using high carbon tool steel, each piece is forged to the desired shape using fire and anvil. By repeated heating and working of the steel, the grain structure is refined and realigned creating a finer grain and homogeneity between the carbon and iron resaulting in a superior edge. Cape Forge knives are hardened to around 62 Rockwell then tempered. Each tool is fitted to a walnut handle, pinned to assure a secure fit and sharpened to a razor edge. As with any hand made knife the size and shape can vary.
